Eating and Drinking

One thing you need to know about this area – almost every pub is called The Bear and there is more than one church called St Andrews. If you’re agreeing where to meet, make sure you’re all talking about the same town.

Cobham has enough restaurants and cafes to keep you going on a daily basis. There’s chain store coffee shops and independent providers – take your pick.(HS = High Street, OP = Oakdene Parade).
Starbucks (HS)
Costa Coffee (HS)
Fego (Anyards Road)
Brontes (Hollyhedge Road)
Sainsburys Cafe (1st Floor, surprisingly good!)
Carluccio’s (HS)
The Juice Smith (OP)
Cobham Spice Oven (Between Streets by BMW garage)
Big Fryer Fish and Chips (OP/Anyards Road by mini Roundabout)
Pizza Express (Anyards Road)
Ali’s Kebab
Carluccio’s (HS) – Part of the successful chain and one of the best I’ve been to. Tel: 01932 863321
Cote Brasserie(HS) – Another successful chain restaurant serving every day favourites with a French flair
Pizza Express (Anyards Road) Tel: 01932 862 588
The Ivy Brasserie (HS) – High end dining from The Ivy. Cobham’s offerings, great for breakfast, lunch and dinner – and amazing brunch at the weekends Tel: 01932 901777
Wildwood at The Bear, Cobham (HS) – Smart pub dining. Tel: 01932 860360
The Old Plough, Stoke Road – excellent menu. Good for lunch, dinner and do a great Sunday roast .
Booking is recommended for busy times. Tel: 01932 862244
The Cricketers – another White Brasserie offering… located on the green at Downside this pub is just as good in summer as it is in winter. Cosy enough for a winter meal out or walk there from The Tilt in summer and eat outside in their lovely beer garden. Find full details here Tel: 01932 862105
The Running Mare, The Tilt, Stoke Road – Popular with returning University students but a nice, cosy pub you should visit at least once.
The Old Plough, Stoke Road – quite a small area dedicated to drinking rather than eating but comfy and friendly.
The Old Bear, Cobham High Street
The Fairmile, Portsmouth Road – now part of the Premier Inn group but still a pub in its own right.
For a small village, Oxshott is doing pretty well on the catering front.
Bella Luna, High Street, Oxshott – A wonderful addition to Oxshott High Street. Traditional Italian restaurant with a bright, bustling atmosphere and fab food. Tel: 01372 844116
The Victoria, High Street, Oxshott – Opened in May 2016 and bringing the White Brasserie talents to the area. Seasonal menus and special offers make this a great dining option… and the new Tipi in the huge beer garden looks like a party waiting to happen Tel: 07467 941398
The Bear, Leatherhead Road, Oxshott – lovely atmosphere, large outdoor area offering BBQ if the weather is suitable and semi-private dining room with open fire. A great place for a long Sunday lunch, night out or quick ‘I-can’t-be-bothered-to-cook’ dinner. Booking is recommended at busy times. Tel: 01372 842747
The Bear, Leatherhead Road, Oxshott – A decent part of the pub is available for drinks rather than food, with some sofas as well as traditional tables and chairs available. There are also sofas on the decking area for sunny days and balmy evenings.
The Victoria, High Street, Oxshott – under new ownership and completely refurbished.
Munch & Wiggles opened in April 2018 and is fantastic. Offering a full range of coffees and light bites, it also serves The Juice Smith’s cold pressed juices and healthy treats.
Esher is PACKED with more restaurants than you can shake a stick at. All located on the High Street, just remember there are two sections to the High Street – the cinema area and the Waitrose area.
Cote Brasserie– part of the successful chain, many good reports of this branch. Tel: 01372 462315
Siam Food Gallery – Traditional Thai food. Tel: 01372 477139
La Orient – all kinds of Asian food are offered here but if you told someone you were going for a Chinese you wouldn’t be accused of lying. It’s crazy busy and noisy and good for big groups but not ideal for a romantic tryst or couples night out. Try The Good Earth for that (although it’s still not that romantic so don’t get your hopes up). Tel: 01372 466628
Giggling Squid – Open for less than a year and already has a strong following. Excellent Thai food with great service and the ability to serve large groups efficiently. Tel: 01372 469909
Layla – Quality Lebanese cuisine. Tel: 01372 462333
Henry’s Grill – Fine seasonal fayre, open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner! Tel: 01372 460603
Zizzi – New in September 2013 with mixed reviews but generally a reliable branch of the successful chain. Tel: 01372 468747
Pizza Express – A well-run branch of the chain with a large restaurant but make sure you book if you’re going at a busy time. Tel: 01372 470435
Red Peppers – family-friendly cantina, bustling restaurant with a global menu. Tel: 01372 467241
Cafe Rouge, Scilly Isles – one of the nicest branches of the chain. Offer great breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, a family favourite for breakfast out. Tel: 01372 465550
The Albert Arms – More than just a pub, also a great restaurant and boutique hotel. Tel: 01372 465290
The Bear Hotel, Esher – very popular pub with large capacity, parking and food.
The Albert Arms
The Marquis of Grantham, Scilly Isles – Huge pub with large outdoor area and loads of parking. Away from the main drag of Esher so don’t park in the Town centre and walk there. You’ll regret it.

Esher has pretty much the only wine bars/clubs in the area.
Hummings – Gin bar…still to have an NTTN inspection… update coming soon.
Layla – as well as the restaurant there is the popular Lounge Bar with a large cocktail, wine and champagne menu. Tel: 01372 462333
